Midwifery

In addition to supporting women's reproductive and sexual health throughout their lives, midwifery is a medical health profession that deals with nursing or helping expectant mothers both before and after birth. Another name for it is obstetrics. It involves fewer episiotomies, instrument deliveries, and a decrease in the use of epidurals. Pregnancy-related risks include a higher likelihood of receiving midwife care during labour, a higher likelihood of a spontaneous vaginal birth, a chance of miscarrying the baby before the 24-week mark, and no discernible differences in the risk of miscarrying the baby overall or after 24 weeks.
